Scholarships
If you are a USJE member in post-secondary studies or have a child going to college or university, USJE offers a total of seven scholarships – two Louise Pargeter Scholarships, one Lynn Ray Scholarship, one Paul Gascon Scholarship, one Diane Leduc-Doran Scholarship, one Danielle Belleau Scholarship and one Equity Scholarship. Each scholarship is in the amount of $2,500 and the deadline for submission of all scholarships is February 1.
All members in good standing are eligible for any of the seven scholarships, while the spouses, partners, children and dependents of members in good standing are also eligible for the Louise Pargeter, Lynn Ray, Diane Leduc-Doran or Equity scholarships.
LOUISE PARGETER AND LYNN RAY SCHOLARSHIPS
These scholarships are available to USJE members and their spouse, partner, children and dependants. There are two $2,500.00 Louise Pargeter National Scholarships and one Lynn Ray National Scholarship for $2,500.00.
The USJE Member must be in good standing when applying.
The scholarships are not restricted to first-year students. No more than one scholarship will be awarded to the same family in a given year and no applicant will be awarded a scholarship more than once.
The application will be reviewed as a whole; however, the scholarships are awarded primarily based on the merit of the Scholarship Question determined for the given year, as well as on the applicant’s grades, volunteer and extra-curricular activities.
PAUL GASCON SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is for USJE Members only and is for $2,500.00.
The USJE Member must be in good standing when applying.
The scholarship is not restricted to first-year students. The Member may attend school on a part-time or full-time basis and be in any field of study. The Member may attend a College, University, Trade School as long as it is an accredited education learning facility. No applicant will be awarded a scholarship more than once.
The application will be reviewed as a whole; however, the scholarships are awarded primarily based on the merit of the Scholarship Question determined for the given year, as well as on the applicant’s grades, volunteer and extra-curricular activities.
DIANE LEDUC-DORAN SCHOLARSHIP
The Diane Leduc-Doran Scholarship is for $2,500.00 and is open to USJE members and their spouses, partners, children and dependents.
The USJE Member must be in good standing when applying.
The scholarship is restricted to first-year students attending a recognized institute of higher learning. No more than one scholarship will be awarded to the same family in a given year and no applicant will be awarded a scholarship more than once.
The application will be reviewed as a whole; however, the scholarships are awarded primarily based on the merit of the Scholarship Question determined for the given year, as well as on the applicant’s grades, volunteer and extra-curricular activities.
DANIELLE BELLEAU SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is for USJE Members 30 years of age and older at the February 1st application deadline and is for $2,500.00.
The USJE Member must be in good standing when applying.
The scholarship is not restricted to first-year students. The Member may attend school on a part-time or full-time basis and be in any field of study. The Member may attend a College, University, Trade School as long as it is an accredited education learning facility. No applicant will be awarded a scholarship more than once.

EQUITY SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is for USJE Members and their spouses, partners and/or children and is for $2,500.00.
The USJE Member must be in good standing when applying and the applicant must be part of an Equity Group.
In the Employment Equity Act, the four designated groups are defined as:
- Women
- Indigenous people, whether First Nations, Métis or Inuit
- People with disabilities, which might be a physical, mental, sensory, psychiatric or learning impairment
- Visible minorities—this term is considered out of date, and more often we refer to Black and racialized people.
